Christine A Blakey

‘The doctor of the future will give no medicine,
but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet and
the cause and prevention of disease’
Edison early 1900’s
Christine Blakey qualified as a Physiotherapist at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary
in 1975. Shortly afterwards she married Stephen, an Army Chaplain and
they spent the next 16 years on the move, travelling extensively at home
and abroad, on average spending less than 2 years in any one home. By
1982 they had 4 children under six and were living in Hong Kong. In 1991
Stephen served with the Royal Scots in the Gulf War.
On Stephen’s return from the Gulf Christine was diagnosed with
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME). Her health had fluctuated for many years
and the strains of the previous months seemed to be the straw that broke
the camel’s back. After a year of severe debilitation, during which
time she was rarely able to get out of bed, she made contact with a Nutritional
Therapist. A regime of a radically changed diet and a programme of supplements
produced astonishing results. After less than a month her ‘brain
woke up’ and she began to function normally again. In less than
6 months she was back at work as a Physiotherapist and had started a Nutrition
Diploma, followed by further study to qualify as a Nutritional Therapist.
She has since worked for many years in a number of NHS and BUPA Hospitals
as a physiotherapist and gained a certificate in Orthopaedic Medicine
before going into her own Private Practice. She was Physiotherapist to
Madras College FP's Rugby Club in St.Andrews before moving to her present
location in Ayr.
She is a skilled counsellor and has completed the Human Givens Diploma
with Mind Fields College. Most of her work now centres around Nutritional
Therapy and using the Human Givens Approach. She is a tutor and trainer
with her husband's Life Coach Training School and acts as Health and Wholeness
Coach for Life Coach Scotland. She has an on-going interest in the new
filed of psychoneuroimmunology and the health benefits of exercise, meditation
and relaxation.
She is available to give talks and lectures for groups and businesses.
Christine is a member of the British Association of Nutritional Therapists,
The Human Givens Institute, The European Therapy Studies Institute and
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapists.
